Overview

Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN is looking for an RN to work on our Intensive Care Unit- Adults. We are a community based hospital licensed for 150 beds set in the growing south metro suburbs, with a level III trauma ER. We serve a diverse patient population with a variety of diagnoses and ages focusing on family patient centered care

Intensive Care Unit–3 rd Floor:

  • 12 Beds

  • Hemodynamic monitoring

  • Ventilators – Tracheotomies – ARDS

  • Sepsis

  • Overdoses/Withdrawals

  • CVA’s

  • Continuous IV infusions of anti-dysrhythmic and vasoactive drugs

  • Care delivery team: NA/NST each shift. 1-2 patients ICU & 3 intermediate stepdown.

  • Acute MI and strokes with thrombolytic and Rule out MI

  • Elective cardio versions

  • Dialysis (performed by outside agency)

  • Pneumonia

  • Altered mental status (ams)

This ICU position is working 12 hour shifts, Nights, e/third weekend, share of holidays. Benefit eligible. 72 hours in pay period. We offer competitive pay and benefits.

Responsibilities/Job Description

The registered nurse is responsible for providing patient and family centered nursing care following established standards, professional practice guidelines and MN Nurse practice act. . The nurse will have an essential role in coordinating care with physicians, care coordinators, patients, and families and delegates responsibilities as appropriate.The RN cares for adult patients with a vast array critical care needs. Partners with the patient and their families/significant others to provide them with the best care and education possible. Implements and directs plan of care with a team model which includes a NA/NST partner and members of other interdisciplinary teams. Evaluates patient care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes and goals. Will use EPIC

Qualifications

Required:

  • Current MN RN licensure or by start date.

  • One (1) year of RN experience in cardiac/telemetry, medical surgical, Emergency/ER, pediatric or adult critical care or ICU in a hospital setting. Including experience with acute patient changes and critical care medications.

  • Requires ability to provide written validation of current basic life support competency for healthcare providers

  • Ability to provide written validation of current ACLS competency or within 6 months of hire based on employee's role.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • Possess strong assessment, critical thinking and delegation skills.

  • Must be comfortable with using computers and working with a diverse population.

  • Must be comfortable working in a fast paced - team environment.

  • Must be willing to become telemetry competent

Preferred:

  • ICU, Critical Care or Cardiac RN work experience

  • Telemetry trained/competent

  • BSN or willingness to obtain in the future

  • Certification by the American Association of Critical Care Nursing

  • TNCC within 1 year and/or succesful completion of approved trauma training program within 6 months of hire date.

  • EPIC familiarity for computerized documentation.
