Responsibilities/Job Description

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements policies and practices for clinical pharmacy services in order to comply with the Joint Commission and other regulatory bodies.

  • Assists the director in the creation and implementation of operational and clinical systems and procedures in order to improve and advance pharmacy practice services.

  • Establishes and implements system formulary review and programs that help ensure cost effective drug therapy and successful patient outcomes.

  • Participates and contributes to Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) committee initiatives to establish criteria for the safe, economical, and appropriate use of medications.

  • Evaluates medication safety events and participates in quality improvement initiatives.

  • Oversees and precepts learners within the pharmacy department, cultivating professional relationships and creating a culture of active learning

  • Participates in strategic development and implementation within the department

  • Manages and coordinates employees goals and performance. Ensures staff are trained and developed and empowered to effectively do their jobs. Manages performance appropriately and ensures development plans for staff are in place. Sets performance standards and provides feedback and recognition on job performance on an ongoing and timely basis. Conducts employee rounding, annual performance evaluations, coaching, and performance management.

  • Ensures adherence to financial forecast for area. Identifies and implements cost saving opportunities and other tactics to close the gap between run rate and target rate. Manages overall expenses and identifies cost saving opportunities for the area they manage.

  • Fosters a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking.

  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards.

  • Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. degree from an Accredited School of Pharmacy. ASHP accredited pharmacy residency (PGY1, PGY2) preferred or demonstration of equivalent experience. Master's Degree in relevant field preferred

License Pharmacist with the MN Board of Pharmacy

Preferred:

Board certification in specialty area (e.g., BCPS, BCCCP)
