Fairview Health Services Medical Lab Technician - Oakdale Clinic in Oakdale, Minnesota
Performs designated routine and some complex laboratory procedures, X-Rays, and other procedures as defined by the clinic.
This is a full-time opportunity to work: Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri 9-5:30pm and Thu 6:30-3pm (schedule subject to change).
Performs and evaluates diagnostic testing to provide accurate and reliable laboratory results
Treats abnormal results according to policies and procedures
Completes orders, enters and verifies test results
Documents all written data, files or sorts paperwork
Completes other clerical functions accurately to ensure accurate test ordering and reporting of patient results
Completes routine maintenance, troubleshoots and repair procedures on laboratory instruments to ensure proper operation
Completes appropriate documentation
Consults with technical support as required
Performs specimen collection and processing to ensure the accurate and appropriate performance of patient testing while maintaining patient dignity, comfort and confidentiality
Complies with laboratory safety and infection control policies to ensure a safe work environment
Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards
Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements
Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned
Trade or Vocational Certification required.Completion of an MLT/CLT program or equivalent.Must meet CLIA 88 specifications
Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) through American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or eligible to sit for exam.Certification must be completed within one year of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) required
1 to 2 years clinical laboratory experience performing routine laboratory testing preferred.Additional education may be substituted for up to one year of experience
Comprehensive knowledge of routine laboratory procedures, techniques and instruments
Attention to Detail: Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task
Computer Skills Basic: Ability to use a computer and applications that are associated with performing basic work tasks (navigate in Windows, Outlook, etc)
Inspection: Critical appraisal skills including examination, measurement, and testing of quality and condition of equipment, materials, or services
Interpersonal Communication: Skilled in developing effective rapport with customers, co-workers, or families, actively listening to develop a positive connection
Patient Safety: Demonstrates practices that support safety with recognition of variations in populations served, preventing harm to patients, families, employees, and themselves
Professional Practice: Demonstrates behavior consistent with the standards, scope of practice, ethics, and characteristics of a licensed professional
