Overview

Supervises and coordinates the staff to provide quality resident care for terminally ill patients. Provides direct RN services daily. Performs treatments and technical nursing procedures according to Residence policies and procedures. Oversees daily operations of the environment and delivery of care.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises day-to-day clinical operation of the Hospice Residence to ensure the delivery of quality resident care including working with Human Resources policies and practices

  • Coordinates the Plan of Care for residents with interdisciplinary team.

  • Provides supervision and clinical leadership for Hospice staff to ensure a therapeutic system for delivery of quality care in compliance with the State and Federal rules and regulations

  • Maintains Hospice Residence emergency response program

  • Maintains oxygen stock for facility emergency supply

  • Participates in nutritional services and menu planning for resident meals in coordination with the Residence Facility Manager

  • Provides supervision and work direction on assigned shift or within department

  • Hires, terminates, disciplines and evaluates and manages performance

  • Escalates sensitive employee issues to next level leader

  • Assists with the day to management of timekeeping, payroll equipment and other operational expenses

  • Fosters a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking

  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards

  • Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree NURSING preferred

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association required

  • Registered Nurse MN (RN) through the MN Board of Nursing required

  • Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) through the National Board Certification Hospice and Palliative Nurses preferred

  • 2 years of experience in med/surg nursing with hospice experience preferred

  • Knowledge of State and Federal rules and regulations

  • Knowledge of State an Federal reimbursement and financial assistance/management

  • Knowledge of infection control
