Your care to patients within the scope of practice for a registered nurse will be delivered in collaboration with the physicians and healthcare team. You will be evaluating patients, reviewing diagnostic tests and initiating/modifying, lifestyle and other therapies using nursing processes.
Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations and policies, procedures and standards.
Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements to achieve clinical, satisfaction and/or efficiency outcomes.
Works in collaboration with the cardiologist to assess cardiovascular status through CV physical exam, compilation of history and physical and review of test result(s).
Assists the cardiologists with assessment and management of patients at any site compiling documentation and other information needed for case management, procedures and/or discharge.
Maintains communication on a consistent basis with the cardiologists (primary and procedural), patients, families, staff and other facilities often times serving as the liaison.
Assists in patient follow-up for post-procedure and long-term patients.
Works in conjunction with the registered nurse(s) to provide coverage for triage calls, refills and walk-in patient assessments.
Prepares patients for cardiovascular tests and interventions by explaining implications, risks, benefits, alternatives and procedures to patient and his/her family.
Teaches and counsels patients and their families about cardiovascular disease and self-care management to include procedures, risks, benefits and medications.
- Associate's degree from an accredited school of Nursing required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

- 2 years of post-coronary or coronary critical care experience as a registered nurse.
Knowledge of adult cardiovascular health and disease processes as well as related diagnostic and treatment modalities.
Ability to perform a brief history and physical examination and to recognize abnormal findings.
Assessment, Planning, Evaluation: Collects and analyses pertinent data and/or clinical findings. Incorporates clinical findings and scientific evidence in the development, coordination and implementation of an individualized plan of care to achieve desired outcomes. Evaluates progress towards goals and outcomes identifying opportunities for improvement and change.
Computer Skills Basic: Ability to use a computer and applications that are associated with performing basic work tasks (use a mouse, navigate in Windows, Outlook, etc).
Evidence Based Practice: Evaluates and/or assists in the evaluation of practice in relation to existing evidence identifying opportunities for the generation and use of research
Nursing Process: Utilizes the nursing process to provide holistic, compassionate, safe, high quality, population based care.
Patient Safety: Demonstrates practices that support safety with recognition of variations in populations served, preventing harm to patients, families, employees, and themselves.
Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; utilizes appropriate tools and staff resources along with sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
Professional Practice: Demonstrates behavior consistent with the standards, scope of practice, ethics, and characteristics of a licensed professional.
