Fairview Health Services Site Manager Lab Services in St. Paul, Minnesota


In partnership with the Laboratory Director and other stakeholders, provide leadership and management for the day-to-day operations in assigned laboratory, driving patient care excellence while ensuring achievement of organizational goals. Foster an environment that includes consistent excellent patient experience, outcomes that meet or exceed quality standards and financial targets, a culture of employee engagement and ongoing organizational and regulatory compliance.

Lab operational management experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities/Job Description

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the site laboratory to ensure achievement of organizational vision, mission and goals

  • Create and maintain an environment for laboratory professionals to function efficiently with known accountabilities and exemplary performance standards

  • Develop, implement and communicate key metrics and improvement activities to monitor the performance of laboratory operations

  • Partner with human resources and other teams on human capital initiatives that ensure recruitment of high quality candidates, foster staff engagement, encourage professional development and provide appropriate training and orientation

  • Responsible for timely and accurate analysis and decision making to support laboratory business performance, operational and financial objectives

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement using lean management tools to support, challenge and evolve processes to achieve system laboratory goals

  • Fosters a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking

  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards

  • Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned



  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Medical Technology or Chemical, Physical, Biological science

  • MT (ASCP) or equivalent. Registry/Licensure in a specialty area will be considered

  • Two years of clinical laboratory experience


  • Master’s degree
