Fairview Health Services Supervisor Primary Care RN in St. Paul, Minnesota


Ensure professional, compassionate service, and quality care as directed by HE policies, guidelines, and local, state, and federal regulations. In conjunction with clinic manager and the site medical director, support staff with ensuring Minnesota Community Measures and system quality measurement implementation. Oversees daily clinical operations. In consultation with clinic manager(s) and nurse educator(s) will perform people management responsibilities including: performance management, performance appraisals, coaching, corrective action, and recognition; staff training and development; interviewing and selection; orientation skill assessment; daily supervision such as staffing, scheduling, and clinic flow issues; supply ordering; and active participation in site leadership meetings.


  • Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements, including collaborating with model clinic team to spread innovation to the sites

  • Assures clinic functions are achieved through implementation and direction of programs, systems, and support personnel in partnership with Clinic Manager or designee

  • Maintains clinic policy and procedure manuals

  • Serves as Epic resource for clinic staff

  • Utilizes the foundations of nursing practice to incorporate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, recognized professional standards, regulatory requirements, and HealthEast policy to drive or assist with driving change management

  • Partners with primary care quality leadership team and system leadership team to lead and assist with achievement of quality metrics

  • Ensures consistency in clinical practice throughout primary care for clinical assistants through collaboration with the primary care nurse educators and other clinical Supervisors

  • Responsible for orientation, training, and education of clinical assistants to ensure informed, well-trained staff will provide service and care for patients

  • Performs clinical activities as the need arises and as directed by site leadership team

  • Collaborates with Site Medical Director and Clinic Manager. May serve as back-up to the Clinic Manager in their absence

  • Provides supervision and work direction on assigned shift or within department. Hires, terminates, disciplines and evaluates and manages performance

  • Escalates sensitive employee issues to next level leader

  • Assists with the day to management of timekeeping, payroll equipment and other operational expenses

  • Fosters a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking

  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards

  • Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned


  • Associate's Degree

  • Minimum Associate degree from an accredited nursing school

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association

  • Registered Nurse MN (RN) through the MN Board of Nursing

  • 2 or more years of progressively responsible healthcare experience required

  • Previous supervisory experience of multiple employees required; preferably in a clinic setting
