Job Description:

CV/EP electrophysiology Technician working at Fairview Southdale Hospital (Edina, MN) will be part of a multi-modality team, whom serviced over 2,300 patients in 2017. May work in both CV and EP rooms with primary responsibility falling in EP. Procedures done in the busy Cath Lab department include; Diagnostic and interventional EP procedures, Devices, Tilt tables, Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac procedures, as well as TAVR, WATCHMAN, and Robotic PCI. Staff will rotate through scrubbing and monitoring procedures assisting the Cardiologist.

Position is 72 or 80 hours in two weeks. Benefit Eligible.

Normal shift is from 08:00 - 16:30 Monday through Friday. This position will typically take overnight call one shift per week and be available to stay late one other shift per week if needed. Weekend call is typically every 4th-5th weekend and one major and one minor holiday per year .

Sign on Bonus may be available up to $ 3,000 dependent on years of experience and may be pro-rated based on authorized hours/FTE hired into. Relocation monies may be available.

To be successful, the CV/EP Technologist must be able to understand and assist with Electrophysiology studies. Knows how to patch patients for various studies and is able to understand mapping and EKG images. Will be able to assist the physician with EP procedures, Devices, and structural heart procedures.

Other duties include;

  • Operate monitor/recording equipment in all cardiac Cath lab procedures.

  • Troubleshoots and corrects ECG tracing problems

  • Operates tableside C-arm controls

  • Records all patient and monitor data on event log according to established guidelines.

  • Applies prescribed three major principals of radiation safety at all times

  • Recognizes rhythms and sudden hemodynamic changes.

  • Ability to scrub in all procedures in Interventional and EP

  • Operates RF Ablation equipment

  • Monitor for EP studies/ablations, integrating use of EP mapping systems.

Job Qualifications:

Required:

  • Vocational training or Associates degree as Cardiovascular/Electrophysiology Technician

  • 1 year of experience working in an active EP Department. Experience with EP studies, ablations/mapping, and devices.

  • Current CPR or BLS for healthcare providers by start date

  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time wearing a protective lead apron. Strong dexterity skills a plus.

  • Must be able to resond to the hospital within 30 minutes of receiving a page.

  • IF CVT (Must have RCIS or RCES within 1 year)

  • ACLS (within 1 year)

Preferred:

3-5 years of experience working in an active EP department, with experience in EP studies, ablations/mapping and devices.
