Job Description:

Position is primarily at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN. Applicant must show willingness to pick up hours at other Fairview locations. Performs non-invasive cardiac diagnostic imaging using ultrasound technology to aid the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac diseases. This includes adult transthoracic, treadmill and pharmacologic stress, and transesophageal echoes. The position would include a weekend rotation.

To be successful, the Echo cardiographer must be able to:

  • Perform various echocardiograms according to departmental policies and procedures

  • Participate in quality assurance activities per ICAEL and laboratory standards

  • Completes various clerical and departmental tasks for efficient departmental operations

Job Qualifications:

Required

  • BLS certification for a healthcare provider thru the American Red Cross or American Heart Association or by the end of orientaton.

  • New hires must obtain Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Registered Cardiac Sonography (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within six months of date of hire.

  • As of 1-1-2015, all Echocardiographers will be RDCS or RCS.

Preferred

  • RDCS at time of hire

  • At least one year of echicardiography experience

Education

  • Associates Degree in echocardiography required
