Job Description:

The Director of Language Services leads a culturally diverse team and drives innovation and efficiency in the delivery of Language Services to ensure access, quality, experience, and cost effectiveness. This role has accountability for the administration, direction, coordination and control of services and resources related to Language Services across the Fairview system. This position works with other leaders in the system to strengthen Fairview’s capabilities to deliver culturally competent care to our diverse populations and to support and educate care teams and staff.

Job Expectations:

  • This role establishes the strategy, implements and leads overall program design and development

  • This position will identify and lead large-scale initiatives to establish best practices in the delivery of language services across the system

  • This position will foster relationships with multiple stakeholders and partners (internal and external) and collaborate with leaders, staff and patients/families to ensure best-in-class language services that meet the diverse needs of those we serve

  • This position will strengthen organizational capabilities to deliver culturally competent care and align with industry best practices and regulatory guidelines

  • Accountable to achieve the financial and operational goals of the department and ensure delivery of quality services in support of goals of the department and objectives of the organization

  • Oversight of the team responsible for day-to-day operations of interpreter services, system-wide scheduling for interpreter services, system-wide translation services, and management for communication disability services

  • Accountable to ensure that services are consistent with organizational policies and standards, law and other regulatory bodies

  • Cascades goals to direct reports and connects goals to department and organizational strategy, mission, vision and values

  • Recruits, interviews and hires to build a cohesive and effective team

  • Responsible for management and engagement of direct reports and overall engagement of the department

  • Identifies development opportunities for direct reports and encourages growth and continual improvement

  • Oversight of department policies including timely updates, staff education and quality assurance processes

  • Accountability and oversight of system-wide contracts with external vendors for Language Services, in collaboration w/ Supply Chain

  • Establishes the strategic direction, initiatives and priorities within the department

  • Monitors best practices within the industry and connects with outside entities to share and learn from others

  • Participates in special projects, work groups or task forces, etc. across the system to ensure visibility and department representation

  • Proactively identifies opportunities for continual improvement within the department and within own scope of responsibility

Job Qualifications:

Required

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Health Care or related field

Experience

  • 5-7 years of progressive managerial experience; experience working and leading others in a multi-entity health system

Preferred

Education

  • Master’s degree in Business, Health Care or related field

Experience

  • 7+ years of progressive managerial experience; experience working in language services or related area
