Job Description:

Fairview Health Services is seeking a Genetic counselor for its University of Minnesota Medical Center location. Maternal Fetal Medicine is a highly collaborative group of providers which includes perinatologists, patient care coordinators, nurses, sonographers, and genetic counselors. Being part of Maternal Fetal Medicine allows the genetic counselors to take part in providing compassionate, comprehensive, interdisciplinary prenatal care. Our team also collaborates with other specialties including neonatology, social workers, cardiology, radiology, and others to build individualized patient care plans.

Genetic counselors across the organization are involved in several specialty clinics including general genetics clinic, metabolic clinic, bone marrow transplant clinic, cystic fibrosis clinic, hearing loss clinic, neurofibromatosis clinic, disorders of sexual development clinic, among others. We also have genetic counseling staff involved in the Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory. This range in diversity provides new genetic counselors access to clinical expertise in many areas of genetics in one institution.

Job Description:

The clinics requiring genetic counseling are maternal fetal medicine, pediatric specialty clinics and oncology clinics. The selected candidate will work with the University of Minnesota/Fairview team of genetic counselors, physician specialists, medical geneticists, and laboratory personnel at University of Minnesota Health.

Job Qualifications:


Minimum Education: Master's degree in Genetic Counseling (New grads encouraged to apply)

Must be board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Medical Genetics or the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
