Job Description:

This position is responsible for HIM operational functions supporting the completeness, integrity and privacy of medical record documentation with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Typical functions include document scanning, responding to release of information requests, and providing support for the dictation/transcription processes.

Position responsibilities:

Prescriber Orders/Care Plans

Analyzes clinical documentation against pre-established criteria to assure compliance with regulatory agency requirements.

Distributes prescriber orders and care plans to prescribers using a variety of contact methods (email, fax, in-person)

Monitors completion of prescriber orders and care plans by prescribers

Notifies prescribers of outstanding clinical documentation

FHI Forms and Patient Education Materials

Manages inventory of forms ensuring adequate levels are on site

Updates forms as appropriate per Compliance Manager/Nurse Educator

Prepares Welcome Folders per established guidelines and business needs as directed by HIM Supervisor

Job Qualifications:

Preferred Education:

HIM Coursework

Completion of computer training in Microsoft applications

Medical terminology

Preferred License/Certification/Registration:

RHIT

Minimum Experience:

One year in Health Information Management, medical office, or comparable work experience or education

Preferred Experience:

Two years in Health Information Management, medical office, or comparable work experience or education

Additional Requirements:

Basic competency in Windows-based computer skills

High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
