Job Description:

TheSystem Clinical Education & Learning Manager partners with the Director of System Clinical Education & Learning to provide leadership and operations management for the coordination of clinical education activities throughout the system an across service lines that drive patient care excellence while ensuring achievement of organizational goals. Supports the shared leadership/governance structure and ensures alignment with the professional practice model across the system.

Leads clinical education teams in partnership with nursing practice to ensure achievement of organizational vision, mission and goals as well as creating an environment that encourages individual accountability for continual professional development and learning.

Supports the shared leadership/governance structure to ensure alignment with the professional practice model.

Fosters an environment of professional collaboration, critical thinking, innovation and research to enhance the achievement of organizational objectives.

Collaborates with the leaders and staff in the Nursing Practice and Clinical Excellence structure to ensure education, safety and quality outcomes across the care continuum.

Collaborates with leadership, advanced practice clinicians and subject matter experts to develop, implement and evaluate professional clinical, orientation and development programs.

Identifies the need for human, material and capital resources for areas of responsibility.

Creates an environment that advances and utilizes evidence-based practice and research. Incorporates new research findings and technological advances in educational design and content that promote quality patient care and staff development along the continuum.

Supports an environment of learning and inquiry for healthcare students

Models the behaviors associated with a healthy work environment.

Represents Fairview and nursing in service line, system and community planning activities as appropriate, with special attention to academic partnerships.

Stays current on the latest thinking in training methods for clinicians including use of simulation and other non-classroom based learning.

Assists and supports the ancillary functions in training clinicians in the most efficient and effective manner.

Acts as a role model; serves as development resource and consultant for clinical educators throughout the system.

Ensures regulatory requirements are met for all regulatory mandated education.

Consults with service line clinical educators to develop and roll out best practice training programs including orientation and competency development programs.

Works closely with EHR team and Clinical Application training leaders to ensure a coordinated training effort that mutually supports/includes aspects from the other. Leading to integrated EHR and clinical orientation or other education programs

Job Qualifications:



Master's degree in nursing, health care administration, business administration or related field. If master is not in nursing then bachelor's degree must be in nursing


5 years progressive experience in area of expertise


Current MN RN License



DNP or PhD in nursing or related field


Experience in an academic healthcare environment

Leadership competence in matrix organization

Demonstrated experience in process improvement


Nursing Professional Development Certification or a professional certification appropriate to role and/or clinical expertise
