Job Description:

Nursing Station Technician (NST) for the Float Pool (various med -surg and post-partum units) at Fairview Ridges Hospital (Burnsville, MN) works under direction of nursing personnel (RN and LPN's) to provide patient care while functioning as a nursing assistant and as a health unit coordinator. The NST assumes delegated responsibilities as appropriate, and adheres to all relevant policies, procedures and practice guidelines. Duties may include: patient cares, vitals, bathing, feeding, answering call lights, transporting, care of environment (by stocking, cleaning, and maintaining rooms) and use of equipment, phones, clerical, transcription, and coordinate the flow of communication on the unit. Works as a patient care attendant, as needed.

This position is authorized 56 or 64 hours per two weeks on the day/evening shift, working 8 hour shifts including every other weekend rotation. Benefit eligible.

Job Qualifications:


Previous HUC, NA, or NST experience or completion of technical, college or internal Fairview HUC program or equivalent related experience.

Knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations, and hospital procedures.

Must have strong customer service, phone and interpersonal communication skills, computer skills, and ability to work with diverse population

Requires ability to provide written validation of current basic life support competency

Strongly prefer:

Successful completion of CNA course or be a nursing student with one semester of nursing clinicals completed.

Hospital based Nursing Assistant experience.

HUC working experience or similar experience in transcription/medical terminology.
