Job Description:

The patient representative will provide superior service by greeting and welcoming patients when they call (patients and visitors may be of all ages, neonatal to geriatric, and may have all degrees of disability, both mental and physical). To ensure high quality care, and as a member of the care team, the patient representative supports quality patient- and family-centered care principles through performing a variety of high level functions within a care team to support the needs of the healthcare team and patients/families. Day to day responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Greeting and welcoming patients upon arrival

Scheduling patient visits

Obtaining, verifying and entering insurance and demographic information from patients

Entering information into an account maintenance system

Verifying visit is in compliance with the insurance contract

Collecting patient co-pays as needed

Maintaining high visibility and availability at entrance/exit/waiting rooms

Providing direction and information

Notifying patient care staff of patient arrival

Job Qualifications:

Required:

One year previous healthcare and/or customer service experience

Excellent customer service skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously

Preferred:

Epic Experience

Vocational/Technical Training

Two years scheduling patient appointments and/or registering patient information with knowledge of insurance in a practice management system OR equivalent combination of education and one year experience

Knowledge of medical terminology
