Provide support to the pharmacy, under the direction of a pharmacist, in the central pharmacy and decentralized areas while assisting the pharmacist with compounding and dispensing of pharmaceuticals, IV solutions and documentation as ordered by qualified prescribers.
The Pharmacy Technician will:
Assist with meeting the needs of the pharmacy customer base by demonstrating knowledge in a variety of areas
Prepare, label and deliver medications and supplies accurately and safely, as assigned and in accordance with all legal requirements and policies under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
Operate equipment and use appropriate techniques when using automated medication stations, refilling, inventory tasks, basic reports and maintenance
Mix and label IV admixtures including: Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), immunoglobulin mixtures, antibiotic piggybacks, and syringes, chemotherapy and other sterile products accurately and safely
Audit medication storage areas for proper storage of medications, dating and appropriate medication stock
Fill and distribute routine stock orders for patient care areas
Position obligated to every fourth to eigth weekend.
Current or pending registration by the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy, and if first registered on/after 1/1/2013, completion of a MNBOP approved employer based or vocational/technical training program.
Certified with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board within 6 months of hire.
Pharmacy technician experience and knowledgeable of data entry and insurance adjudications.
Excellent customer service skills, proficient in the English language, good attention to detail, ability to problem solve effectively, ability to follow policies and procedures, basic math skills, basic typing skills and excellent communication skills.
