Job Description:

In collaboration with patients and families, this physical therapist will be responsible for providing safe and effective delivery of patient care within scope of practice. This includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis, planning, intervention and establishing outcomes. This physical therapist will often utilize The McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) as a method of treatment.

This position is benefit and PTO eligible and requires working at multiple Institute for Athletic Medicine Clinic locations throughout the Twin Cities.

Job Expectations:

· The physical therapist partners with the patient and family while performing the Evaluation/Re-evaluation

o Gathers pertinent data

o Performs examination

o Determines treatment diagnosis

· Develops an individualized plan of care through collaboration with the patient and family

o Analyzes data to identify needs and potential risks

o Determines prognosis for recovery

o Establishes individualized goals with patient and/or caregiver

o Individualizes plan of care considering developmental level and cultural differences

o Implements and modifies plan of care based on reassessment and patient response

o Coordinates care and communicates effectively with interdisciplinary team for all aspects of patient care

o Establishes appropriate discharge plan

· Partners with patients and families to provide skilled intervention

o Implements plan of care

o Alters treatment/plan of care to reflect change in patient status and response to treatment

o Assesses patient and/or caregiver learning needs and provides appropriate education

· Documentation/Billing

o Uses acceptable medical terminology

o Follows professional practice standards

o Completes documentation in a timely manner per department standards

Job Qualifications:



· Physical Therapy registration/licensure in the state of Minnesota or temporary license in the state of Minnesota

· Basic Life Support certification



· Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy


· Significant working experience or formal training with the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) is highly preferred

· Previous experience in orthopedics, sports medicine PT preferred

· Successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to be organized, flexible, and self-directed with strong skills in areas of communication, organization, interpersonal and customer service
