The Outpatient Observation Unit RN at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN cares for adult patients with a range of medical needs including such conditions as chest pain, back pain, gastroenteritis as well as post-surgical patients. This 24 bed unit is fast-paced with an average length of patient stay less than 24 hours, serving patients coming from ED /Surgery. The registered nurse is responsible for providing patient and family centered nursing care following established standards and practices. The nurse will have an essential role in coordinating care with physicians, other team members, and patients and families. The unit is focused on continuously improving processes to improve care and patient flow. Using computerized charting is essential. Support staff includes; NST or NA on all shifts.
Benefit eligible. E/O wknd, holiday rotation, 8 hr shifts and 64 hours in two week, Days 7-300 , Nights 11pm -730 am
Physical Demands: Standing, walking, reaching above shoulders, reaching waist level, reaching below knee, climbing, lifting above shoulders <10-20 lbs, lifting waist level 35 lbs, lifting below knee 35 lbs, writing, pushing, hearing, squat/kneeling, repetitive actions, keyboarding, speaking, seeing/visual.
Recent work experience at the bedside as RN in an acute (hospital or TCU) or subacute (LTC or similar) setting
Ability to provide written validation of current basic life support competency for healthcare providers
MN RN licensure or by start date
Training in arrhythmia monitoring and basic EKG interpretation is required or need to train and pass upon hire.
Strong communication skills are required
Excellent critical thinking and computer skills are required
Must be flexible, able to multi-task, and have good organization and time-management skills.
Must be able to work in a team environment which includes a Nursing Station Technician.
The RN must be adaptable to an ever changing environment. Must practice on-stage and off-stage behaviors consistently and appropriately.
Prefer hospital RN nursing/LPN or NST experience.
Prefer experience working in an ER/Tele or PACU setting
BSN or willingness to obtain
