Job Description:

The Volunteer Specialist effectively works within a team culture to organize and assist in the implementation of programs that will contribute to the physical and mental well-being of patients, support the needs of family members and staff, meet the mission of the hospital, encourage community interactions and meet the individual needs of the volunteer.

The volunteer specialist maintains department operations through onboarding, assessing and supporting volunteers, supervising junior volunteers, updating volunteer records and assisting with projects and other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate for this position has excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact positively with teenagers, adults and elders.

The Volunteer Specialist will support both Fairview Southdale Hospital and Fairview Ridges Hospital.

Other information about the position:

Day shift, .5 FTE

Will work every third or every fourth weekend

This position will work at both Fairview Ridges Hospital and Fairview Southdale Hospital

Job Qualifications:

Required Experience:

Previous experience in volunteer services

Preferred:

Bachelors degree in management, healthcare or related field

1-3 years working in volunteer services

Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access or other volunteer services data base

Experience working or volunteering in a hospital setting

Certificate in volunteer leadership and/or experience with Volgistics database
