Fairview Health Services Exercise Physiologist Specialist - Cardiac Rehab (Casual) in Woodbury, Minnesota

Overview

Responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating patient care as it relates to treatment plans for Cardiac Rehab. Completes patient assessment and care in both outpatient and inpatient Cardiac Rehab departments across the Acute Care Hospitals.

This is a casual opportunity to work at our Woodwinds outpatient clinic with the expectation to float to St. Joe's and St. John's, as needed. Must be willing to work one scheduled shift per month.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards

  • Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements

  • Accurately completes patient assessments including vital signs, EKG interpretation, functional capacity and readiness to make healthy lifestyle changes

  • Develops and implements Individualized Treatment Plans to achieve desired patient outcomes.Evaluates progress towards goals, safely determines and applies exercise prescription, monitors vital signs and continuous telemetry/EKG interpretation during exercise

  • Provides education and support to patients and their families that encourages making healthy lifestyle changes

  • Knowledge of emergency protocols and responding appropriately to signs, symptoms or EKG changes during exercise

  • Partners with teams effectively to maximize performance, utilizing communication skills, facilitation skills, and knowledge of team dynamics and adapting to change

  • Identifies problems and possible solutions utilizing appropriate tools and staff resources for recommendations and process improvement work

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or related field

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association and Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • 1-3 years experience preferred

  • EKG interpretation skills required

  • Assessment, Planning, Evaluation: Collects and analyses pertinent data and/or clinical findings. Incorporates clinical findings and scientific evidence in the development, coordination and implementation of an individualized plan of care to achieve desired outcomes. Evaluates progress towards goals and outcomes identifying opportunities for improvement and change

  • Computer Skills Basic: Ability to use a computer and applications that are associated with performing basic work tasks (navigate in Windows, Outlook, etc)

  • Interpersonal Communication: Skilled in developing effective rapport with customers, co-workers, or families, actively listening to develop a positive connection

  • Patient Education: Provides patient educational information appropriate to the developmental level, learning needs, readiness, cultural values, and beliefs of patients and families

  • Treatment Planning: Identifies expected outcomes and develops individualized treatment plan of care
